Circular Plane and Journal Milling
Our rotating milling machine is based on “LEGO” methodology whereby a complete setup is made up of modular parts, adapting to workpiece and site conditions. It is pivoted at the centre of workpiece, rotate around the workpiece and conduct circumferential surface milling from 3m to 45m in diameter. By using 2 sets of 16” face milling cutters, it can cover surface width of 800mm at a feed rate of 500mm per minute and take up to 0.5mm depth of cut. That is equivalent to material removal of around 97 kg per hour or 1 ton of metal chips in 1 shift (12hrs).Total flatness runout achievable is less than 0.6mm for a 30m diameter workpiece by using laser control levelling system. Other than circumferential flatness, it can also conduct grooving and chamfering using customized form tools.By using a 100mm width rim cutter, the equipment can also carry out journal machining for workpiece on vertical orientation with the surface located more than 12m from the top of the structure. 0.02mm accuracy in diameter, cylindricity and circular runout with surface finishing less than 0.8μm using linishing are achievable.
