Moray west is a new offshore windfarm comprising of 60 turbines in the outer Moray Firth. Our client, Lamprell PLC located in UAE is in charge of constructing the jacket components, transition pieces and monopiles.
Transition pieces and monopoles form the foundation of the wind generator turbines. The transition piece is a reinforced part of the support structure connected to the wind turbine tower whereas monopiles are the steel piles which sit beneath the turbine tower, typically by the way of a transition piece, and are driven into the seabed.
We are honored to share our client’s net zero goal by providing in-situ machining specialized solutions in this sustainability renewable project. Our in-situ services minimize the transportation of these gigantic structures for machining or repair which helps to save substantial amount of energy and resources.
To achieve the large delivery fulfillment, 4 in number of large circular self-leveling milling machines as well as 5 x Climax BB5000 boring machines were deployed for the project with specialist activated from UAE, Singapore and China branches.
The project is featured in the latest Inside Sustainability magazine and Inside Oil & Gas magazine.
